Church Campus Vision Video
Concept
In a few months, our church will launch a new campus in Greeneville - about 45 minutes from our current campus. The leadership of our church made the body aware of this several months ago, but this December it became time to begin to recruit men and women from the Greeneville to be a part of the launch team.
To help accomplish this, we decided to make a video explaining who Arrowhead Church is and casting our vision for this new campus in Greeneville. The target audience were Christians in Greeneville who have never heard of Arrowhead before and may be called by God to join our team there.
Production
Production on this video began in early November. Myself, Lee Brown (Greeneville pastor), and Ben Shoun (head pastor) put the narration script together. I had one of our elders, Scott McMinn, do the voiceover. He has a great voice for this kind of thing and I like using people so heavily involved with the heart of our church.
Much of the footage from this video is taken from other videos I've done, mostly from this year. Lately, I've been shooting a lot of video for a major redesign of the announcement loop that runs on the screens before a service. That footage really came in handy for this video!
My favorite part of this video is the animation that shows the orange spreading from Morristown to Greeneville. It works so well with the song, too. I made this by taking the vector maps I've made of East-Tennessee (for our Almost the Whole City campaign), placing them on a grey background in Apple Motion, designing a watercolor-edged orange splat in Photoshop, expanding the orange splat behind the map vector, and hovering 3D text titles over each city. Add in some lights, a path for the camera (as well as motion blur and depth of field), and hit export. That sounds like a lot of steps, but it took maybe 15 minutes to actually make. It took 2 hours for my Mac Pro to render the 14 second clip, however. Putting all those processors to work!
Videos like this one, where I get to pitch our church to a group of people on the outside, are incredibly rare and so humbling. Most of this video shows you what God has done in the 7 year life of our Morristown campus, and it is so encouraging. So many people's lives have been changed here. As soon as this video ends, it just makes me want to worship - both in thanks for what Jesus has already done, and in prayer for the things he might do in Greeneville.
